Manager's background.
Dr. Levi Mansur is the general manager of MAS. He is also a professor of plant breeding at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile. He obtained his B.S. and M. Sc. degrees in Agronomy from Colorado and Washington State Universities respectively and a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California at Davis. Before returning to Chile in 1990, Dr. Mansur
held faculty positions as a soybean breeder and researcher at Iowa State University and as a geneticist at the University of Utah. He pioneered mapping of quantitative trait loci in soybean and is the developer of Minsoy x Noir 1, Minsoy x Archer, Noir 1 x Archer and BSR 101 x PI 437654 recombinant inbred lines populations in wide use by private and public soybean breeders in the U.S.A. and other countries. He is co-developer of several soybean varieties. He is the first Chilean to obtain a plant patent on a native Chilean plant of ornamental value (www.leucocoryne.cl). Current research interests include drought tolerance in corn and soybeans. |
